Fair Oaks Village

Fair Oaks Village: Fair Oaks has a small town feel and a lively arts scene. Located in Old Fair Oaks Village, the town center houses the Plaza Park Amphitheater, where residents look forward to the yearly Fair Oaks Theater Festival. A not-to-miss event, the annual Chicken Festival draws young and old alike. Every year in December, our town shows its festive side with Christmas in the Village. In May, Fair Oaks Fiesta Days feature family-friendly events that promote community during this “Spring Festival.”

Trader Joe's, Raley's, Costco, Whole Foods, great restaurants, theaters, music, colleges and schools are all nearby. There are Farmers Markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Smokey Oaks Tavern, with great food and drinks, is located right next to our site, at 9634 Fair Oaks Blvd.

American River Parkway

Just half a mile away to the South is the beautiful American River, bordered by the American River Parkway bike path: a 32 mile, 4900 acre expanse of land and water deemed the "jewel of Sacramento" that runs from Old Sacramento to Folsom Dam. (And yes, there are community members who plan on commuting by bike!)

The American River Parkway is truly a treasure to our community. Whether you're a bike riding family, long-time birder, boater, runner or just need a beautiful place to walk after a long day at the office, the 32-mile stretch of parkway has a little bit of something for everyone.

Over 5 million people enjoy this wildlife-rich recreation spot every year, and Fair Oaks EcoHousing members are happy to be among them! The Fair Oaks EcoHousing Site is a short walk from Sacramento Bar at Mile 20 on the Parkway
